Editing Journal
Editing Journal
Day 1:
The first thing I did was download all of the clips taken and go through all of them checking the quality of the clips. After I ensured all of my clips were high enough quality for my music video, I then downloaded them onto my Premier Pro file.
I then downloaded my music and it was the first clip I put into my timeline so then I could match the clips to the music. After this I then looked at my storyboards and took the clips that matched with ones I had taken and clipped them and put them with the song.
As I wanted to have a VHS effect on my music video, I watched a numerous amount of tutorials on YouTube to find the right way I wanted to do it as I wanted it to look professional instead of poor quality.
Day 2:
On the second day, I began the process of the VHS effect. I copied each clip twice and placed them one on top of the other. I then added the effect "Arithmetic" on to all of the clips and changed the Opacity Blend Mode to Linear Dodge (Add). On the top layer I set the Blue Value in the Arithmetic to 200 and the position to 960.0 and 540.0. I then changed the middle layers Green Value to 200 and on the bottom layer I changed the Red Value to 200. I had to render my clips every time I had done this to two clips.
Day 3:
On the third day I added an adjustment layer and added the effect Noise. I changed the Amount of Noise to 20.0%. After this I had to render as it effected all of the clips already in place. I then added in more clips and continued the steps from the second day of editing.
I added in an effect which caused a lined to travel horizontally down the frame to add more to the VHS effect.
Day 4, 5 and 6:
I continued to add more clips in, changing their orders, changing the clip lengths and making sure they were cutting on the beat. After all the clips were in I made sure that every cut was in time with the music which made it more professional and more like a real music promo.

Props Research
Props Research:
Red Cups:
Price £9.50
The red cups are used a lot in EDM music videos for parties as it is very popular to be used in movies that have parties in them such as Bad Neighbours. Also a lot of universities use them for parties and it shows that there could be alcohol in it with out actually showing alcohol so no alcohol will be used. I will get these from Amazon and as they are low priced this will not be a problem to purchase.
IPhone 7+:
Price: £669
The IPhone will be used by both characters by showing them taking videos and photos as the EDM audience are known for being very social media heavy. The IPhone7+ is one of the most popular phones which is by Apple, it's not the newest iPhone so will not be unrealistic for this age group. This prop is the most expensive but as I already have one that is easily accessible this will not be a problem.

The Cannon 700D is a DSLR camera that will be used in my music video to show the characters taking pictures and videos of each other and the scenes around them as the reasoning behind the video is them showing their experiences and documenting it. I would normally have to purchase this from Cannon but I have access to one already so the price will not be an issue.

The male main character will wear black jeans with a variety of tops and hoodies. The EDM audience are very relaxed and outgoing to I want his outfit to express the same feeling. In the music video Find Me and Where Are Ü Now, both the main male characters wear basic clothing as the videos main focus is not the costume. Due to one of the location choices he will have to wear a shirt.

Mistral Beach, Marbella, Spain:
Mistral Beach in Marbella is extremely scenic and photogenic. It has beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Although it is busy, it does have quiet periods. I think the setting of a beach fits in well as other EDM music videos have the use of a beach in it including How Deep Is Your Love by Calvin Harris and Closer by Chainsmokers.

Reading Festival is a huge festival in the U.K that is mainly rock music but includes a lot of other music genres like EDM. Flume and Marshmello were two of the EDM acts that were this year. I think shots from the festival will go extremely well with the theme of the music video.

Marlow Riverside:
Marlow riverside is very scenic and has a lot of greenery next to the river. This will not be a main location but an extra which would be used to fill in gaps and to help break up the other shots. The greenery against the city and beach locations will work well together.
London:
London has so many good spots to shoot for a music video, including Hyde Park, The London Eye, and Oxford Street. London has very photogenic and well known locations that will look cool with the music video such as aquariums and skylines.

I have created a short video to show my finalised ideas for my music video. My focus group all agreed on the same initial idea which made it clear which one I was going to go for. They all had some suggestions and improvements that could be made so here is a more detailed idea of the music video.

Focus Group Opinions:
1: I really like the first ideas but I think there are a few improvements that could be made such as the relationship between the couple being more obvious, like whether its just friends or something more. Also I like the different locations and idea of outfit changes to show different days.
2: First idea is definitely my favourite. POV shots would work really well with this idea. I think a symbolic video is better as theres very few lyrics in the song.
3: I think the first ideas the best and think that if you get enough shots it will work well, but if you get too little amount I think it may be repetitive
4: The first sounds like a Jay Alvarres video which I love, I think that the location choices are good and have variety between them
