Audience Research

Audience Research

The audience for EDM normally enjoy a wide variety of music. They are also people who enjoy partying, clubbing and festivals and enjoy seeing music live as this is their main way of having the true experience of the music. The age group can range from 16-29 which shows how wide the appeal is and is also very popular in many countries. EDM fans are normally heavily involved in social media and enjoy entertainment from technology. Also, unlike other genres EDM fans do not have 'fantoms' for certain artists but more EDM as a whole and generally talk about music more than other music genre fans. In studies it has been found that they're extremely open about their lives and love having thorough conversations with other people.

Audience Profile:

Age Range : 18-24

Gender : Both, but more male by roughly 10%

The average member of our target audience would be a young adult or someone in their late teens, male or female. They would enjoy clubbing, partying and attending festivals to hear the music live. They are more "live in the moment" people rather than worrying about the future and are just trying to enjoy their life. They can be seen as people who non stop party but likely have a good amount of education and enjoy the spare time they have.

Audience Theory: Hypodermic Needle / Magic Bullet

The hypodermic needle model is a model of communications that says that an intended message is directly received and fully accepted by the receiver. It can also be called the "Magic Bullet" which is shot by the "Media Gun" straight into the head of the viewer, therefore is straightforward way of injecting the message into their head and having immediate effect. This was used during World War Two by the mass media. Hitler and Germany's media would give out messages to support Hitler and turn people against the U.S, whereas the rest of the world would use it too turn people against Hitler.
